Executive Management
Our key executives have significant experience in the industry, having served as officers and managers of publicly and privately held upstream oil and gas entities and lending institutions. In their quest to build the best and grow the company into a successful player in the E&P industry, they have assembled a team of highly professional and experienced landmen, geologists, petroleum engineers and financial experts. As a result, the majority of employees working at ERG have significant E&P company experience. Our executive staff has successfully demonstrated its ability to evaluate, acquire, operate, exploit, and divest upstream oil and gas assets, as well as experience in successfully obtaining and structuring conventional bank financing instruments to implement its corporate development goals and operation.
Always cognizant of the statutory and federal regulatory legislation surrounding the E&P industry, our executive team has always strived to meet or exceed these guidelines as a prudent oil and gas operations corporation, both onshore and offshore. To establish and maintain firm corporate financial reporting credibility, our executive staff employs industry respected independent accounting auditors.
Scott Y. Wood – President
Mr. Wood started career in 1981 with Liberty Oil and Gas in Oklahoma City as a Petroleum Landman, joined Landmark Exploration as Land Manager, then ventured out on his own developing prospects and acquiring oil and gas properties Purchasing interests in the Gulf Coast area eventually led him to acquire Cedar Point Oil Company in 1995 that included properties in Galveston Bay. Energy Reserves Group, L.L.C. was formed by merging in Cedar Point, then after several acquisitions and divestitures including Plains Illinois Inc. and assets from Nuevo Energy, consolidated the remaining holdings into ERG Resources, L.L.C. He has 25 years in the industry and extensive expertise in acquisitions. Having been raised in his family’s oil business in Kansas, he has a vast knowledge in all facets of operating oil and gas properties in numerous basins.
Doug W. Lacey - Land
Mr. Lacey has 25 years of a diversified background including all duties associated with a seasoned corporate Petroleum Landman: oil & gas leases, farmouts, farmins, Joint Operating Agreements, fieldwide unitization, Purchase and Sale Agreements, acquisitions and divestitures. He gained his experience through various positions with Gulf Oil Corporation, Chevron, Pennzoil and some smaller independents, managing fields located in the Texas Gulf Coast, East Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Mr. Lacey holds a BBA in Management from the University of Texas.
Phillip D. Jewett - Geologist
Mr. Jewett has 25 years of comprehensive subsurface geological experience obtained with Gulf Oil Corporation, Chevron and Pennzoil. He possesses extensive knowledge of subsurface mapping and interpretation techniques, cross-section construction, well log correlations, coring programs and is highly experienced in proposing new well locations as well as recompletion recommendations. Mr. Jewett holds a BS in Geology from the University of Texas.
Delbert Pierson – Engineer
Mr. Pierson began his career in 1970 at Exxon Company, USA as a reservoir engineer in Exxon’s Kingsville District office and left as a supervisor managing the King Ranch properties in South Texas. His career has covered a vast array of Petroleum Engineering duties that include oil and gas operations, reserve engineering and energy finance. Besides Exxon, he has worked for Texas Commerce Bank (now JPMorgan Chase Bank), The Laredo National Bank, Mission Resources Corp., WEDGE Oil & Gas Company, Summit Partners Management Company and was also an independent consultant to buyers, sellers, financial institutions and public entities for a ten year period. Del is a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas.
James T. Wagner – Field Superintendent
Mr. Wagner has 44 years of field operations experience. He is well versed on rod pumping wells, gas lift, compressors, workover rig activities, gravel packing, perforating, squeezing, acidizing and coil tubing completions. The majority of his career has been spent in the Gulf Coast area with Gulf Oil Corporation, Chevron and Pennzoil along with some smaller independents.
E. Frank Kinkead - Controller
Mr. Kinkead has been with the company since 1997. He was previously Manager of Budgets and Special Projects with Equinox Oil Corporation, served eight years as Manager of Joint Interest and Property Accounting with TransAmerican Natural Gas Corporation and eight years with Gulf Oil Chemicals Corporation serving as Auditor, Budget Director and Advisor to the Controller. Mr. Kinkead holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston.
