Executive Management

Our key executives have significant industry experience serving as officers and managers of publicly and privately held upstream oil and gas companies and financial institutions. In our desire to become a successful player in the E&P industry, we have assembled a team of highly professional and experienced petroleum engineers, landmen and geologists. The team has substantially grown our business through the ability to evaluate, acquire, operate and exploit oil and gas assets.


Scott Y. Wood – President
Mr. Wood started career in 1981 with Liberty Oil and Gas in Oklahoma City as a Petroleum Landman and ventured out on his own developing prospects and acquiring oil and gas properties A purchase in 1990 eventually led him to Galveston Bay. Energy Reserves Group, L.L.C. was subsequently formed and then after several acquisitions and divestitures including Plains Illinois Inc. and assets from Nuevo Energy, consolidated the remaining holdings into ERG Resources, L.L.C. He has 29 years in the industry and extensive expertise in acquisitions and operations. Having been raised in his family’s oil business in Kansas, he has a vast knowledge of acquiring and operating oil and gas properties in numerous basins.

Edger Dunne – COO and Gulf Coast Asset Manager
As a third generation entrepreneur, Mr. Dunne has over 25 year of experience in the oil industry as both an owner and manager. He is the sole owner of Dunne Equities Inc. (DEI) and Alaska Venture Capital Group. DEI operates over 100 wells throughout the midcontinent region with significant acreage holdings in Kansas, eastern Colorado, southern Oklahoma, and eastern Wyoming. Additionally, Mr. Dunne has started and sold two other companies, Hugoton Ventures and KAGE, Inc. Hugoton Ventures was formed to facilitate the Hugoton Basin’s larges land transaction, over 200,000 [xxx] of deep rights. He has negotiated the acquisition of numerous properties and prospects with major companies such as Texaco/Chevron, ExxonMobil, OXY, USA and Anadarko.

Larry C. LaFleur – Business Development
Mr. LaFleur started his career in 1981 with Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Land Management. Shortly after the merger with Chevron in 1986, Mr. LaFleur began working in the Acquisitions and Divestment Group in Chevron’s Midland office. Mr. LaFleur returned to Houston in 1994 and continued working in Chevron’s A&D North American Upstream Business Development Group until his retirement in April, 2008. Mr. LaFleur has extensive experience and knowledge in the negotiation/preparation and closing of transactions covering the acquisition and divestment of oil and gas properties.

Larry Derrett – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Derrett has 28 years of a diversified background in energy finance. The first 14 years of his career were spent in commercial banking where he provided reserve based financing to small producers at InterFirst and ran the Midstream business of CIBC. He also has substantial experience in structured finance including asset securitization, project finance and leasing. At Coral Energy, Mr. Derrett served in a Treasury function and also established a producer finance effort. He later joined Enron Energy Services (CFO) where he provided financing to clients and established a new leasing subsidiary. After a 4 year entrepreneurial stint , Mr. Derrett was part of a team who opened the Houston office for CIT Energy providing upstream capital to small and mid-sized producers. Mr. Derrett holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas in Austin.

Chris Rasmussen – Controller
Mr. Rasmussen has 16 years of energy industry experience in accounting and finance. He began his career as Senior Accountant and later promoted to Controller of Miller Energy, Inc., a privately-held oil and gas exploration company. In 2000, Mr. Rasmussen joined Gateway Energy Corporation, a publically traded oil and gas midstream company, as Corporate Controller. During 2005, Mr. Rasmussen was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Gateway where he helped grow the company in the midstream segment of the oil and gas industry. In that role, Mr. Rasmussen led the accounting/finance group as well as developed an accounting and IT internal control system for the company. Mr. Rasmussen holds a BBA in Accounting from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Doug W. Lacey - Land
Since 1982, Mr. Lacey has accumulated a diversified background in the oil and gas industry, including all duties associated with a seasoned corporate Petroleum Landman: oil & gas leases, farmouts, farmins, Joint Operating Agreements, fieldwide unitization, Purchase and Sale Agreements, acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Lacey gained his experience through various positions with Gulf Oil Corporation, Chevron, Pennzoil and some smaller independents, managing fields located in the Texas Gulf Coast, East Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and California. Mr. Lacey holds a BBA in Management from the University of Texas.

Phillip Hosch – California Field Superintendent
Mr. Hosch joined ERG in June 2010 from Breitburn Energy where he was Field Superintendent for all operations at the Ocrutt Field in Santa Maria, California. Mr Hosch has over 40 years of direct experience in field operations with a primary emphasis in areas around Santa Barbara county.

From 2004 – 2010, Mr Hosch reported to the California Division Manager and was responsible for 27 employees and various contractors, oversaw all aspects of field operations, reported to Management on field status and production and managed all projects to achieve production goals. Prior to Breitburn’s acquisition of the Orcutt field in 2004, Mr. Hosch worked in a similar capacity for ERG and substantially increased field production prior to the sale to Breitburn. Mr Hosch has performed in similar capacities for Nuevo Energy and Unocal from from 1970 – 2003.

Carl Pomeroy – Senior Engineer
Mr. Pomeroy has 35 years of varied engineering experience starting as a production engineer for Cities Service in Oklahoma City before moving to the reservoir engineering department. He has done reservoir engineering and reserve reports for a variety of companies large and small, public and private. Mr. Pomeroy has managed field operations as production and profit center manager, and provided direct field operations management for ERG’s California properties. He worked with Schlumberger to identify opportunities to increase production at ERG’s Orcutt field and worked with the field operations manager to implement the work program. The work resulted in an increase in a nearly 50% increase in production. His work experience ranges from heavy oil production in Canada to producer finance for Koch producer services and he has worked in many US producing areas onshore and offshore. He has 4 years total experience with ERG.

Delbert Pierson – Engineer
Mr. Pierson began his career in 1970 at Exxon Company, USA as a reservoir engineer in Exxon’s Kingsville District office and left as a supervisor managing the King Ranch properties in South Texas. His career has covered a vast array of Petroleum Engineering duties that include oil and gas operations, reserve engineering and energy finance. Besides Exxon, he has worked for Texas Commerce Bank (now JPMorgan Chase Bank), The Laredo National Bank, Mission Resources Corp., WEDGE Oil & Gas Company, Summit Partners Management Company and was also an independent consultant to buyers, sellers, financial institutions and public entities for a ten year period. Del is a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas.
